The lighthouse projects presented on this website are best practice examples from all over Europe and beyond, showing where high standards of care were successfully implemented, in some cases even before the European Standards of Care for Newborn Health (ESCNH) were published. We refer to these projects as “lighthouses” to highlight their exemplary, inspiring nature. By describing these outstanding projects as “lighthouses”, we want to appreciate the commitment of those improving and implementing the ESCNH. Moreover, they also serve as a source of inspiration for everyone who wants to make a change in newborn healthcare.
