Translating the European Standards of Care for Newborn Health

/ News

Spreading the European Standards of Care for Newborn Health is an integral part of the implementation process. But this also means that people have to be able to read and understand the Standards in order to discuss and, ultimately, apply them. This is why translating the European Standards of Care for Newborn Health is such an important undertaking.

We are happy to announce that the translation project taken up by the Italian Society of Neonatology (SIN) and Vivere ONLUS, the Italian National Coordination of Parents’ Associations, is progressing nicely. The organisations have been hard at work, translating one set of Standards after another. We have been steadily adding translated packages to the website over the last few months. The most recent additions are Follow-up and continuing careEducation and training, and Nutrition.

Translating the entire European Standards of Care for Newborn Health is an enormous effort, often requiring unprecedented levels of cooperation between parent organisations and scientific societies within the country in question. We would therefore like to thank everyone involved, especially the translators, for their hard work, dedication, and trailblazing spirit—changing our understanding of what constitutes proper neonatal care means including more people in the conversation. Making the Standards of Care available in different languages promises to do just that!
